A Woman Looking at Men Looking at Women
The themes of the exhibition address several issues central to feminist theory, moving from conventions of female representation through sexual emancipation to the challenging and subversion of traditional gender roles. Artists include Magdalena Abakanowicz, Marlene Dumas, Carol Rama, Carla Accardi, Nicole Eisenman, Helena Almeida, Ida Appelbroog, Carolee Schneemann, Betty Tompkins, Judith Bernstein, Maria Lassnig, Louise Bourgeois, Natalia LL, Hannah Wilke, Geta Brătescu, and Sarah Lucas, among others.
LA 58° BIENAL DE VENECIA EN VIDEOS
Un recorrido virtual por la exposición central de la 58° Bienal de Venecia, que se celebra en los Giardini y el Arsenale desde el pasado 11 de mayo y hasta el 24 de noviembre de 2019. Bajo la curaduría de Ralph Rugoff, esta edición de la Bienal tiene como título «Que vivas en tiempos interesantes» (May You Live in Interesting Times), el cual ha sido abordado por los 79 artistas convocados, todos ellos contemporáneos. LA 58° BIENAL DE VENECIA EN IMÁGENES
Cambio climático, posverdad, fake news, nacionalismo, autoritarismo, racismo, discriminaciones de género, desplazamientos y migraciones forzados… ¿Cómo lo enfrentan y cómo se involucran los artistas? ¿Cómo lo puede exponer el arte hoy suscitando, más que una reflexión, una acción? ¿O el arte no incide, no motoriza un cambio? Es lo que busca cuestionar la muestra internacional de la 58° Bienal de Venecia, que abrió al público el pasado 11 de mayo en los Giardini y el Arsenale.
LITUANIA GANA LEÓN DE ORO EN LA 58° BIENAL DE VENECIA
Lituania se ha llevado el León de Oro como representación nacional en la 58° Bienal de Arte de Venecia, en tanto que el artista estadounidense Arthur Jafa se hizo merecedor del León de Oro al Mejor Participante en la exposición internacional de la Bienal. También hubo menciones especiales, como la que recibió la artista mexicana Teresa Margolles. El León de Oro a la Trayectoria lo recibió el artista, performer, poeta, ensayista y activista estadounidense Jimmie Durham.
Louis Fratino:come Softly to me
Drawing inspiration from personal experience and, more recently, photographic source material, Louis Fratino makes paintings and drawings of the male body. His work includes portraits, nudes, and intimate scenes of male couples engaged in activities ranging from the mundane to the graphically sexual. The result is a body of work that is a loving and honest expression of the contemporary gay experience.
Javier Chorbadjian:problemas de Descarte
La obra de Javier Chorbadjian cuestiona la definición del descarte como producto secundario, al transformarlo en temática y criterio de selección de sus imágenes: fotografías de desechos conviven con escenas inoportunas y momentos prescindibles de matrimonios. El fotógrafo opera bajo la premisa de un recolector.

The exhibition features over thirty sculptures, paintings, videos, and large-scale installations from throughout Ward’s career, highlighting his status as one of the most important and influential sculptors working today. Since the early 1990s, Ward has produced his works by accumulating staggering amounts of humble materials and repurposing them in consistently surprising ways.
PORTADORES DE SENTIDO: ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO EN LA COLECCIÓN PATRICIA PHELPS DE CISNEROS
El Museo Amparo, en Puebla (México), y la Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (CPPC) presentan la exposición «Portadores de sentido: Arte contemporáneo en la Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros», una selección de más de cien obras de 70 artistas de 16 países de América Latina y El Caribe que fueron adquiridas por la CPPC entre 1990 y el 2015. La exhibición es curada por Sofía Hernández Chong Cuy y Sara Meadows como asistente curatorial.
