DAY WITH(OUT) ART 2022. HISTORIAS POCO CONTADAS SOBRE EL VIH Y EL SIDA
Por segundo año consecutivo, Artishock se alía con Visual AIDS en el Day With(out) Art 2022 al presentar Siendo y Perteneciendo, un programa de siete videos cortos que destacan las historias poco contadas sobre el VIH y el SIDA desde la perspectiva de artistas que viven con VIH en todo el mundo.
MANUEL SOLANO: HELIPLAZA
Manuel Solano (México, 1987), quien se identifica como no binario, era un artista emergente de 26 años cuando, en 2013, perdió la vista debido a una infección relacionada con el VIH. Sin desanimarse por su condición y con el apoyo de sus amigos, Solano volvió a trabajar. Acá, sobre su reciente muestra en Pivô, São Paulo.
ÉLISABETH LEBOVICI: WHAT AIDS HAS DONE TO HER
Activist, critic and art historian Élisabeth Lebovici’s plume transits the sinuosity of a paradox without contradiction. Silence and voice, life and death, ethics and aesthetics. Throughout her career, the fight against HIV/AIDS and other causes fought by the LGTBQIA+ community imbue a dense corporeality into her particular way of theory making. At a time of new uncertainty and viral panic, looking back at the AIDS epidemic is a sallow reminder of the indifference that medical and political powers can have for the rights of sexual minorities, but also an invitation to live once more the stridency with which artists and activists fought in order to make their voices heard.

A lo largo de su carrera, la lucha del VIH/sida y otras causas impulsadas por la comunidad LGTBIAQ+ le otorgan una corporeidad espesa a su particular manera de hacer teoría. En tiempos de nueva incertidumbre y pánico viral, rememorar la epidemia del sida es un triste recordatorio de la indiferencia que pueden tener los poderes médicos y políticos por los derechos de las minorías sexuales. Sin embargo, también es una invitación a vivir una vez más la estridencia con la que lxs artistas y activistas lucharon por hacerse oír.
