JULIANNY ARIZA VÓLQUEZ: AMAS DE LECHE
Presentada en Artpace San Antonio, la muestra profundiza en el trabajo femenino a través de una revisión del legado histórico y cultural de las nodrizas. A través de su obra, Ariza Vólquez refleja tanto la explotación histórica de las mujeres de color como su resistencia y agencia, resignificando las narrativas de cuidado y maternidad desde una perspectiva crítica y contemporánea.
JESSICA KAIRÉ INAUGURATES RUBIN CENTER’S CENTRAL AMERICAN EXHIBITION SERIES
Including five of Kairé’s ongoing series of fabric “Folding Monuments,” along with a corresponding series of works on paper, the exhibition considers the ways in which monuments mark public space and are collectively determined, maintained, or dismantled.
SANDRA MONTERROSO: THE HEALING PARADOX
Monterroso, an artist with Maya Q’eqchi’ roots, focuses her attention this time on more modest materials. Leftover fabrics from a local rug factory and organic cotton and linen embellished with embroidery and neon lights effectively become a compelling locus where discussions about healing wounds within a complex postcolonial heritage occur.
ELSA GRAMCKO: THE INVISIBLE PLOT OF THINGS
An avid reader of surrealist poetry, German existentialist philosophy, and Carl Jung’s meditations on memory and consciousness, Gramcko explored different avenues of painterly abstraction as a new path to humanism. This exhibition is an effort to present her contribution to postwar global modernism, outside the doctrinaire limitations of the avant-garde and beyond the binary distinction between abstraction and figuration.

ALLORA Y CALZADILLA: ESPECTROS DE MEDIODÍA
La exhibición «Allora y Calzadilla: Specters of Noon (Espectros de mediodía)», creada específicamente para el edificio principal de la Menil Collection, en Houston, emplea sonidos, sombras proyectadas y novedosos materiales escultóricos para evocar una atmósfera de asombro y belleza. Las siete obras inéditas y a gran escala fueron concebidas tras una colaboración de cuatro años con el museo.

Ballroom Marfa presents the first solo museum exhibition in the United States of Brazilian artist Solange Pessoa (Ferros, 1961). Pessoa’s practice is deeply rooted in land, human and natural history. In this focused exhibition, she gathers together references, materials and iconography from the environment of her homeland in Minas Gerais and Far West Texas, creating a conversation between shared forms and interwoven cosmogonies.
Alejandro Otero:rhythm in Line And Space
Organized in partnership with the Otero Pardo Foundation of Caracas, Venezuela, the exhibition «Alejandro Otero: Rhythm in Line and Space» at Sicardi | Ayers | Bacino highlights works from his «Cafeteras» (Coffeepots), «Tablones» (Planks), and «Coloritmos» (Colorhythms) series, among others, offering a glimpse into the dynamic practice of this master artist (Venezuela, 1921-1990). Although this exhibition cannot show any of these structures on a public scale, except in images, it does exhibit the artist’s preparatory process that gave rise to them. Following a rigorous methodology, Otero, when producing paintings or sculptural works, always began with drawings, sketches or models, before making the final work a reality.

Oro es una exposición grupal concebida por el artista angelino Rafa Esparza para la particular arquitectura de Ballroom MARFA, un espacio para el arte ubicado en el desierto de Texas, en la que su intervención site-specific, un arco construido con bloques de adobe, sirve de prólogo para las presentaciones de los artistas que ha invitado.
