LYGIA PAPE: TUPINAMBÁ
Exhibidas por primera vez en Estados Unidos, las obras de la serie «Tupinambá» se distinguen por el uso de plumas rojas artificiales, con las que Pape establece su conexión con ciertas características de la historia de las poblaciones indígenas de Brasil. La exposición cuenta con la monumental obra «Manto Tupinambá» (2000), compuesta por una serie de esculturas tituladas «Memórias Tupinambá» y obras en papel, así como la emblemática instalación «Ttéia».
Soto.vibrations 1950–1960
Renowned as art history’s leading kinetic artist, Jesús Rafael Soto (Venezuela, 1923-2005) explored the dematerialization, or ‘disintegration’ of the art object, breaking new ground while anticipating conceptual strategies to come. Hauser & Wirth in New York presents «Soto. Vibrations 1950 – 1960», the first exhibition to focus on the critical first decade of the artist’s life in Paris, curated by Jean-Paul Ameline. Imbued with vibration and movement, Soto’s early works constitute a breakthrough in his output, laying crucial groundwork for his later kinetic works and the uniquely fluid style that shaped his artistic vocabulary.
ANNA MARIA MAIOLINO: ERRÂNCIA POÉTICA
Durante más de cinco décadas, la artista italo-brasileña Anna Maria Maiolino (1942) se ha inspirado en su historia personal como artista, migrante y madre para producir obras que desafían las nociones aceptadas de deseo, lenguaje y sexualidad. La artista continúa transitando por esta senda en su más reciente exposición titulada «Errância Poética» (Poetic Wanderings), que puede verse hasta el 22 de diciembre en la galería Hauser & Wirth, en Nueva York.
Lygia Pape at Hauser & Wirth New York
Hauser & Wirth New York hosts the gallery’s first solo presentation of Pape’s work in the United States since announcing worldwide representation of Projeto Lygia Pape in 2016. Spanning Pape’s multidisciplinary practice, the exhibition shares the artist’s singular vision with visitors, mining her profound and often playful approach to the physical and material experience of art, which elucidates a deeply human understanding and unique reframing of geometry and abstraction. This exhibition is accompanied by a forthcoming catalogue from Hauser & Wirth Publishers that includes a conversation between the artist’s daughter, Paula Pape, curator Paulo Herkenhoff, and poet Ferreira Gullar, with an additional commissioned text by author Alexander Alberro.
ESOPO COMO CATALIZADOR DE ENERGÍA CREATIVA EN LA OBRA DE GETA BRĂTESCU
La galería Hauser & Wirth presenta hasta el 23 de diciembre la primera individual en Nueva York de Geta Brătescu (Rumania, 1926), artista precursora del Conceptualismo rumano, en la que se ofrece un amplio panorama de su práctica artística a través de más de 50 dibujos, collages, grabados, textiles y fotografías, así como películas, videos y performances experimentales que exploran temas de identidad, género y desmaterialización.
