ARTISTAS LATINX Y LATINOAMERICANOS EN INDEPENDENT ART FAIR, NY
En esta edición, que se celebra del 9 al 12 de mayo en Nueva York, destaca la participación de artistas latinoamericanos y latinx, con una diversidad de obras que se distinguen por elementos identitarios o bien que generan un enlace comunitario por las raíces que comparten.
DANIEL CORREA MEJÍA: SOY EL DUEÑO DE MI CASA
Confronting himself with the complexity of being responsible for his own house, his own existence as a breathing and individual body, Mejía (b. 1986 Medellín, Colombia, based in Berlin) finds through his work an expanded notion of home -one that is not limited to four walls or even the confines of the physical body.
LIZANIA CRUZ: INFLUENTIAL SITES
Lizania Cruz fills the gallery with “evidence” of the whitewashing efforts of the Dominican state, which has long employed anti-Black and anti-Haitian rhetoric to erase centuries of multi-racial and working-class resistance to its pattern of authoritarianism and US-intervention.
VICENTE MATTE. ENIGMAS DE LA PINTURA AL TEMPLE
Vicente Matte (Santiago de Chile, 1987) se interesa por la construcción de imágenes aparentemente simples, pero que lentamente vayan revelando ideas y narraciones más complejas que inicialmente no se advierten. En sus obras más recientes, expuestas en dos galerías de Nueva York, se distinguen personajes en solitario o formando conjuntos, sin relacionarse entre ellos, flotando en campos de color, en una suerte de asepsia relacional.
