OPEN CALL: ICAA AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING RESEARCH IN LATIN AMERICAN AND LATINO ART
The International Center for the Arts of the Americas at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (ICAA) is pleased to issue a call for participation for the 2020 edition of the Peter C. Marzio Award for Outstanding Research in Latin American and Latino Art. Named for the late, longtime director of the MFAH, who oversaw the establishment of the ICAA in 2001, the award recognizes new scholarship in the field of modern and contemporary Latin American and Latino art.
CONTESTING MODERNITY. PRIMERA GRAN EXPOSICIÓN DEL INFORMALISMO VENEZOLANO
Si bien el informalismo se abrió paso en una era de riqueza expresiva en Venezuela y posteriormente funcionó como una suerte de rito de iniciación para generaciones de artistas posteriores, hasta ahora ninguna exhibición o publicación había estudiado su historia de manera exhaustiva. Esto es lo que persigue «Contesting Modernity: Informalism in Venezuela, 1955−1975» (Disputando la modernidad: Informalismo en Venezuela, 1955−1975), una exhibición pionera que traza la trayectoria del movimiento informalista desde mediados de la década de 1950 hasta sus últimas manifestaciones en la década de 1970.
