La exposición final de Okwui Enwezor inaugurada poco después de su fallecimiento coincidió con el fin de la era racista de Trump. “Con la normalización del nacionalismo blanco por parte de los medios, los dos últimos años han dejado en claro que existe una nueva urgencia para evaluar el rol que los artistas, a través de sus obras, han jugado para iluminar los contornos punzantes del cuerpo político estadounidense”, escribiría el influyente curador de origen africano.
The Magnetic Fields
Curated by Cecilia Alemani, the exhibition focuses on the representation of the body –especially the female body– in order to analyse and contrast different notions of sexuality and self-definition. With its array of fetishes and totems, «The Magnetic Fields» presents a range of fantastical anatomies, in which the body is represented in a constant stream of transformation: dispossessed, dematerialised and recomposed. Installed as a chamber of wonders –or a camera oscura, to mention one of the over twenty important works by Man Ray on display– «The Magnetic Fields» alternates faces and portraits, anthropomorphic objects and bodies without organs, talismans and mutant dummies.
ARTISTAS LATINOAMERICANOS DESTACADOS EN LA 10° BIENAL DE BERLÍN
La 10ª Bienal de Arte Contemporáneo de Berlín, titulada «We don’t need another hero (No necesitamos otro héroe)», anunció hoy la lista de artistas participantes, entre los que se encuentran varios latinoamericanos, como la chilena Johanna Unzueta, la brasileña Cinthia Marcelle, el colombiano Óscar Murillo y la nicaragüense Patricia Belli.
