Los últimos años se perfilan como un momento decisivo para los artistas contemporáneos de El Salvador. El Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York (MoMA), el Whitney Museum, el Metropolitan Museum, la Tate Modern, el Reina Sofía y el Smithsonian son solo algunas de las principales instituciones que han estado adquiriendo o montando exposiciones de artistas salvadoreños.

Two groundbreaking exhibitions currently on view in New York assert the enduring legacy of abstraction among Latinx artists: “Latinx Abstract” at BRIC, curated by Elizabeth Ferrer, and “XX”, at the Manhattan-based LatchKey Gallery. Both exhibitions emphasize, on the one hand, a desire to push against limitations and stereotypical expectations imposed upon Latinx artists, and on the other, the need to reassess the scope and history of abstract art itself.

Y otras reflexiones del ‘tercer mundo'», muestra curada por Claire Breukel de Y.ES Contemporary para las galerías de la Florida Atlantic University, en Boca Raton, reúne obras de los artistas salvadoreños Abigail Reyes, Albertine Stahl, Crack Rodríguez, Ernesto Bautista, Fredy Solano (Póker), Guadalupe Maravilla (antes Irvin Morazán), Karlos Cárcamo, Mayra Barraza, Melissa Guevara, Ronald Moran, Simón Vega, The Fire Theory, Verónica Vides y Walterio Iraheta.
